Train Rides and Redecoration

Yesterday was my youngest cousins 8th birthday and she had chosen to celebrate at the one, the only, Tom's Farm! 

Tom's Farm is a Southern California family fun destination. They opened back in 1971 as just a produce stand and have grown quite a bit since then. They are now home to attractions like train rides, a magic show, pony rides, and more. If you aren't convinced yet here are a few more reason why this is a great place.

The food is amazing! In the mood for a little mexican? Visit Senior Tom's, they sell everything from the simple taco to the deep fried ice cream. If you are more of a burger fan try out Tom's Old Fashioned Burgers where they also serve breakfast from 7am-11am.

When my family goes to Tom's we usually go to the Wine & Cheese shop. They sell some of the best pizza and sandwiches around! And after all the fun is done and we are ready to leave we head on over to The Sweet Shoppe for some hand made candy and fudge.

Tom's Farm is more than just a destination for food and rides, they also offer a Home Store for furniture and if you are in need of a shed head on over to Shed World.

Tom's is an all around great place for family and friends to hang out, eat great food, and have fun.

In other news, I' m in the middle of redecorating and getting organized for baby. I can mark off new blinds, door knobs, and painting off my list but I am far from being done. With our closet being so small its hard to fit anything in it without someone losing out on space, and with all of baby's things the little bit of space we have will become nonexistent. So for the next few weeks I will be posting on the topic of organization. I would love to hear your organizational tips as well.

Where have I been?!

What was supposed to be a single day stay at the Navy Lodge on Coronado Island ended up being a 2 day vaycay. With the stress of everyday life we are hardly ever get the chance to just enjoy each others company. We are just so happy that we were able to have that time to grow our relationship before he has to leave again. 

I know what you are thinking. What happened to 'Our Road Trip Part 3'? Well I'm here to tell you not to worry it IS coming. It would have been up yesterday if it weren't for this "pregnancy brain" I have. Yes being pregnant makes me forget things easily, my grandma had it bad, my mom had it worse, and I have it terribly. Besides all that I do plan on posting it today at noon, I believe that's 3PM for those on the East Coast. 

I just want to thank you (my readers) for being patient with me while I get a hang of blogging. 

For those who love, or like, to read books I picked one up at the NEX. It's called "The Aviators Wife," I'm curious if any of you have read it and if you liked it? I just started this book so I don't have a reliable opinion on it yet. 

Waffles PB & J Style

Being pregnant I get hungry a lot. I eat 3 meals a day, multiple snacks, and drink plenty of water but still my stomach rumbles. For weeks I have been trying to find something that will hold me over for longer than 45 mins. Now, waffles with peanut butter and jelly it may not be the healthiest snack choice out there but it does help fight off mid-morning hunger.

All it takes to make is:

2 Waffles (frozen or fresh)

Peanut Butter (any brand, creamy or chunky)

Jelly (any flavor, any brand)

Spreading knife

&

a little imagination

First off make your waffles to your specifications.

Once cooked spread on your peanut butter and jelly.

SPOILER ALERT! Spread the peanut butter on while the waffles are still hot and you will have a delicious

 gooey mess.

Congrats! You just made your first waffle sandwich,

My Fur Baby!

Dogs are like people, they are all different and they all have their own personality. Some are very laid back and defiant while others are active and loyal. My pup Sophie falls under her own personality category, she's a Sophie.

You are probably wondering what I mean by 'she's a Sophie.' That saying actually started out as a joke between all who know her, but became a way to describe her. She is toy driven, nose driven, hates sirens, digs where ever she smells a gopher, loves to chew on dirty socks AND underwear. It's gross! I have had to throw out countless amounts of chewed up clothing because of her dirty habit. 

This little cutie is such a handful sometimes. A mischievous, loving, defiant, loyal, active, sleepy, handful of a pup. Sometimes it's hard to believe that so much attitude can fit into such a small dog.

Babies, Blinds, and Underway?

Yesterday I was leaving the house to run some errands and much to my surprise sitting just outside my door was a rather LARGE package. Contained in the package was a mixture of baby things my grandmother from up north had sent down for our baby shower,

A bunch of onesies and footsies,

Newborn sized diapers and 200+ wipes,

a pack of socks, blankets, a hooded towel, and gift set of lotion, shampoo, baby wash, and diaper cream along with a bottle of baby oil.

In other news we finally replaced our less than appealing, beat up, cherry wood blinds with a whiter, very clean, still intact version. Say what you want about white (boring, plain) but personally I think it will go better with our future wall color. We also picked up some darker door knobs to switch our gold ones out with. Making our room into ours is a slow process but I know the end product will be worth it.

We also received some not so great news that my husband is having to go out to sea again for three weeks. I am very proud of my husband for joining the Navy, I've always looked at joining the Military as an honor but it still sucks when he has to leave. On the bright side he will be training to become more qualified for his job and will still be home for our baby shower which I can not be more happy about.

First and Foremost . . .

First of all I’d like to say “Hello! Welcome to my blog!” as you can tell this is my very first blog post, it’s very exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Any ways let’s get to it.

 I’m Theresa, a 20 year old Navy wife, mom-to-be, and a fur mommy to my little rascal Sophie. Our little boy is due in July and we couldn't be more excited for his arrival. I am a Southern California native and my Husband is from Washington state currently stationed in Sunny San Diego, California.

K and I have only been married for 6 months and in about 6 more he’ll be on our first deployment. It makes me sad to know he will be gone for 10 months of our child’s life. The only thing I am looking forward to during this deployment are his emails and getting to send him care packages, and of course his coming home.

This blog will contain all of my thoughts and experiences, from the good days to the bad and all the beauty in between. So come along with me on my adventure as a Navy wife.
